Persistent Organic Pollutant commonly known as POPs are group of toxic organic chemicals which persist for a long time in the environment. These compounds can migrate into the food chain and then into the human body, where they bioaccumulate in fatty tissues.
POPs can be present in a wide variety of materials ranging from plastics, textiles, furniture upholstery to soil and sediment.
